Abstract

The management of biological diversity is a significant challenge, primarily due to a paucity of knowledge concerning the diversity and distribution of biological resources. The aim of this study was to analyze the current ecological and spatial status of Annonaceae in Côte d'Ivoire, to identify biodiversity hotspots and propose conservation priorities. The floristic data were extracted from the SIG IVOIRE database, GBIF, African herbaria, and the Flora of Côte d'Ivoire. The IUCN Red List database and the Aké-Assi database from Botanical Institute of Andokoi, Côte d'Ivoire, were used to identify species which are threatened or endemic. The Geographic Information System was used to produce distribution maps. The MaxEnt Analyse was applied for species distribution modeling, incorporating climate variables obtained from WorldClim.org. The floristic analysis revealed 430 samples, coded into 21 genera and 69 species. The distribution map shows irregular exploration of the territory, with some areas being much more thoroughly surveyed than others. Modeling indicates a high probability of the species presence in the Guinean domain of Côte d'Ivoire. Furthermore, Piptostigma fugax A. Chev. Ex Hutch. & Dalz has been identified as a species endemic to Côte d'Ivoire. This study contributes to the field of biodiversity conservation by highlighting the diversity, distribution, and vulnerability of the Annonaceae family.
