Use of Generative AI
Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence in the Editorial Process
Introduction and Purpose
The growing availability of artificial intelligence (AI) tools has introduced new possibilities, but also new responsibilities, in the field of scientific publishing. As these technologies are increasingly used in content creation, data analysis, and communication, it is essential to establish clear expectations to ensure academic integrity, transparency, and accountability.
This journal recognizes the potential of AI to support, but not replace, the intellectual and ethical work of researchers, reviewers, and editors. The following policy defines acceptable practices for the use of AI tools in the preparation, evaluation, and management of scientific manuscripts.
Acceptable Use of AI by Authors
Authors may use AI-based tools to enhance the clarity, structure, or language of their manuscripts, provided that all content is thoroughly reviewed, edited, and validated by the human authors. The use of AI must never substitute the author’s role in developing scientific ideas, conducting analysis, interpreting results, or writing conclusions.
Authors remain fully responsible for all content submitted to the journal, including any parts generated or assisted by AI systems. It is strictly prohibited to use AI tools to generate full sections of a manuscript without human oversight, to fabricate data or references, or to manipulate visual material.
AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors under any circumstances, and cannot be credited as sources of scientific content. Authorship is reserved for individuals who contribute intellectually and assume full responsibility for the work.
Authors are encouraged to disclose any significant use of AI tools in the manuscript preparation process by including a brief statement prior to the References section, describing the nature and purpose of the tool used.
AI Use by Peer Reviewers
Reviewers are expected to perform their evaluations based on their own academic expertise and ethical judgement. The use of AI tools to generate or formulate review reports is not permitted. Under no condition should reviewers upload manuscripts or any confidential materials into third-party AI tools or platforms, as this compromises confidentiality and data protection standards.
All aspects of the peer-review process must be handled with discretion and personal accountability.
AI Use by Editors
Editors may employ AI-based technologies to support administrative tasks such as plagiarism screening, completeness checks, or reviewer suggestions, as long as such use respects confidentiality, editorial independence, and established ethical guidelines.
Editorial decisions must always be based on human judgment and cannot be delegated to automated systems. Editors must not use AI tools to draft or communicate decisions, comments, or correspondence related to manuscript outcomes.
Academic Integrity and Transparency
The journal is committed to promoting responsible innovation and academic integrity. AI tools can be beneficial when used appropriately, but they must not compromise the originality, credibility, or ethical standards of scientific communication.
By clearly stating the expectations for AI use in the editorial process, we aim to support a transparent, fair, and trustworthy publication environment for authors, reviewers, and readers alike.
Final Note on Policy Development
This policy was drafted independently by the editorial team to reflect the journal’s mission, values, and standards of academic conduct. While the content is informed by widely accepted principles in scholarly publishing, no external policies or texts were reproduced or adapted. The journal takes full responsibility for the formulation of this policy.
